The Pope’s Prayer Intention for November – For the prevention of suicide– Let us pray that those who are tempted to commit suicide might find the support, care and love they need in their community, and be open to the beauty of life .

THANK YOU
– to everyone who helped to make our fall supper a success. We raised $3316.00 for the parish.

Thank You from the Residents of the Villas – thank you to the organizers, food donors, and workers for the delicious meal that was delivered to us on Sunday as part of the fall supper.

The 2025 Bishop’s Annual Appeal – It is time for us to do what we can to  support the programs and ministries that benefit both our parish and the wider community. Your gift and your prayers will help to make this year’s appeal a success. Every contribution counts. Our parish has been asked to raise $16,489.00 and Green Lake has been asked to raise $1885.00 for this year’s Appeal.

Bishop’s Annual Appeal:
“Planting Seeds of Hope”
October 26 – December 31, 2025
Every gift is greatly appreciated!

About Today’s Commemoration – On this day, we pray for those who have died but have not yet fully entered the heavenly kingdom. Although assured of their salvation, they must first pass through a stage of purification – one that is beyond the realm of temporal time – aided by our prayers. Our love for one another continues beyond death, and we are united with one another in the hope of eternal life with Christ.

Saskatchewan Provincial Knights of Columbus Charity Appeal draw with banquet and dance will be Saturday, November 8 in our hall. The evening will start with mass  at  5:00 followed by the  banquet and dance. Also calling on all parishioners who can help pull apart tickets on Friday, November 7 evening starting at 7:00 pm, many hands make light work.  Please come and help if you can.  Any questions or to get tickets for the banquet call Chris Bencharski at 306.240.8872.

Christmas Shoebox – The main reason to pack a shoebox is to ensure that children from the poorest families of the world know that someone cares, which is demonstrated by receiving a shoebox that is filled with toys, school supplies and personal care items.  Shoeboxes can be picked up at the back of the church, more have been ordered, also an ordinary shoebox can be used.  All shoeboxes must be at the church before or on November 16.  For gift suggestions and information google, SamaritansPurse.ca/OCC.

Scripture Insights – Commemoration of all the Faithful Departed (All Soul’s Day)
Taken from Source Book for Sundays, Seasons and Weekdays 2025: The Almanac for Pastoral Liturgy, LTP Liturgy Training Publications Copyright 2024, 3949 South Racine Avenue, Chicago, IL 60609, pg. 366.

Today’s Scriptures speak of our eternal destiny as rest. The Greek noun anapausis (see Ps 23:3; Mt11:29) and its related verb anapauo (see Mt 11:28) mean “rest” and “repose”, but also “refreshment”, “revival “. Yet another image of revival and transformation occurs in today’s first reading. In verse 7, the souls of the just are said to shine and be like sparks. Similar imagery is  found in Daniel 12:3, where “those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake” and the righteous will shine like stars. In Daniel 8:10, the stars are angelic beings. Daniel and the author of the Book of Wisdom believe that after death the just will be transformed into angelic beings. This same view is expressed by Jesus in the Gospel accounts.

·         Which mother grieves more, the mother whose son is shot and killed, or the one whose son pulled the trigger? Both are looked upon by Jesus with eyes of mercy and love. May we also do the same, grieving together and holding tight to the hope of the resurrection.
·         When Scripture speaks of justice and “the just,” its meaning is best described as right relationship. We honor those who have gone before us when we make peace with them and learn from their examples in our relationships with others.
